Officers were called to at 3103 N. Prospect Street by a landlord who was trying to evict his tenants. Quickly, the case grew into the investigation of a possible former meth lab.

The officers who were first sent to the area saw a stolen vehicle being dismantled. As they searched the area more completely, they found the evidence that led them to suspect methamphetamine was manufactured there in the past.

Investigators and firefighters trained in handling hazardous materials are working in the area. Nearby homes are not being evacuated because it is believed the lab contains only residual contaminants.

It is expected that the investigation will continue throughout Monday afternoon.

So far, there have been no arrests.

CSPD Spokesperson Barbara Miller says this isn't the first time investigators have visited this particular home. "A year ago they had been out here to address issues as it related to a meth lab at this location," she said.
