Doughnut Store Suspect Arrested; Connected To Carjacking, Other Robberies

The suspect in a Springs-area Dunkin Donuts robbery has been arrested. Police now believe he is responsible for two other robberies and a carjacking.

Police were called to the Dunkin Donuts on the 800 block of West Colorado just after 8 p.m. Wednesday on reports of an armed robbery. Officers say that the suspect entered the store with a silver handgun and demanded money from a store clerk, who complied. The suspect then left the scene with an unknown amount of cash.

The two employees in the store at the time of the robbery were uninjured.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Vernon McKinnie, surrendered Thursday morning after fleeing from police when he was caught driving a vehicle reported carjacked Wednesday night. Police say McKinnie is the prime suspect in the carjacking and Dunkin Donuts robbery, as well as robberies at a Loaf n' Jug and a Circle K Wednesday morning.

Thanks you- Officers. Not only a great job but I also appreciate the abuse you take. I know that while we are safe in bed and the only thing we worry about at our work is a paper cut, you a riding all night making the worst calls. Then when the calls slow enough for a break you go to the only place still open ( like a donut shop)to get a coffee, hopfully call your family to say good night and then start making calls again. Thanks for risking your life and missing your family for us. Sorry for the wrong these people do you. Donuts and cops, blacks and water melon, all the same mindset.

Never mind the guns and money, did he take the donuts? Do they have any donuts left? Are the donuts okay??? Did the cops leave any?
