A local convenience store has been robbed twice in less than two weeks.
Colorado Springs police say it's too early in the investigation to tell if the same person is behind both robberies. While there are some definite similarities between the two cases, there are some major differences too.
In Tuesday night's robbery, a man entered the Diamond Shamrock near Circle and Platte at 10:30, pulled out a gun and demanded cash from the clerk. After receiving money, he ran off from the area. The clerk was unharmed.
But when the same store was robbed on Sept. 9, the suspect actually forced the clerk into a restroom after forcing her to give him money. In that case he also got away on foot.
In both cases, the suspect showed a gun, and more notably, the suspect descriptions have similarities: in the Sept. 9 robbery, the suspect was described as being 5-foot-7; Tuesday's robbery he was described as being 5-foot-5 or 5-foot-6. Both times the suspect covered his face; Tuesday night police say the suspect's face was concealed by a blue and white scarf.
The suspect Tuesday night's race and age are unknown. He was last seen wearing a gray jacket, black pants and a black knit hat.
If you have any information that could help police locate the suspect, call CSPD at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
