Police say there have been a string of burglaries in Colorado Springs this morning. It started with a Rent-A-Center.
Police say just before 1:30am the Rent-A-Center on Austin Bluffs near Academy was burglarized. Thieves got away with two big screen televisions.
Law enforcement is calling it a classic smash and grab burglary. They say the crooks broke a front window and stole the big screens in just a couple minutes.
Another Rent-A-Center on East Pikes Peak was broken into, but at this time police do not know what was taken from that store. Employees tell 11 News that this isn't the first time someone has tried to drive a vehicle through the front doors of that store.
Next was the Universal Motor Sports on North Academy. Someone in a black pick-up truck backed into the front doors. According to police, nothing was taken.
Over the past four years, Universal Motor Sports was broken into and vandalized more than 20 times, according to the owner.
Next was the Game Stop on Space Center Drive. Police say a truck backed into the store. But again, police say nothing was taken.
At this time, police are looking for a black pick-up truck. Police are not saying if the burglaries are connected yet, but 11 News reporters saw shards of broken glass outside Universal Motor Sports. The owner says the glass is not from his building.
Police say their biggest challenge in finding these thieves will be a lack of surveillance footage. At least two of the businesses did not have surveillance systems.
