Crooks Attempt To Steal ATM

Would-be thieves left a Springs Valero empty-handed after attempting to run off with an ATM Monday morning.

Two suspects narrowly escaped police, leaving the scene just barely a minute ahead of officers' arrival at the convenience store on the 3400 block of Research Parkway.

Police say upon arrival, they found broken glass, and the front door pried open. Surveillance video showed the suspects using an older red Chevy or GMC pickup to pull the ATM with a chain.

Video showed no discernible physical traits of the suspects, as their faces were concealed by masks. Anyone with information about this incident are asked to call police, or call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

LOL I bet these idiots are caught, as they were not very bright. They picked a location that is not an easy get away... right to enter, right to exit type parking lot. They probably did not know what they would do with it once they got it out. I am thinking the Taco Bell next door is to blame; the idea of a late night chalupa was too strong for the potheads to resist.

Crooks steal the vehicles they use for these crimes so it won't be traceable back to them. Changes are the stolen truck will soon be discovered abandoned but usually without recoverable evidence.

When will criminals learn that ATMs are built so that they are almost impossible to steal? All that property damage, probably damage to their vehicle, those dumb wads!

When you say "an older chevy or gmc pickup", how old. They have it on video. Is it in the 80's or 90's maybe 70's. there is a big difference in the looks between those years. Can't they tell?

Understand the sentiment, Pearson but lucky would have been if they did take it and got caught. One or two less criminals off the street for a few hours :)

Actually, they were lucky they didn't take it, had they taken it the RFID and GPS devices inside would have led the FEDs right to them.
