Thousands of criminals are off the streets, and millions of dollars worth of property has been recovered, thanks to a community program that allows people to anonymously call in tips to law enforcement.

A representative from the Pueblo Crimestoppers said today that since the program started in 1983, over 2,000 suspects have been arrested thanks to tips provided by the community.

The program offers a cash reward for information leading to an arrest. The program's organizers said that more than $226,000 has been paid out to tipsters over the last 30 years.

They also said more than $11 million in property has been recovered and $14 million worth of narcotics has been seized.

In 21 homicide cases, organizers said crucial information came through the Crimestoppers program.
