Close Call For Homeowner Who Finds Armed Intruder In His Home

A close call for a homeowner who finds an armed intruder in his home overnight and was nearly shot, had it not been for a malfunction.

Police say they were called to the 4300 block of Fountain Springs Grove at 3:14 a.m. on a report of a burglary in-progress. En route to the call, police were notified that a homeowner found a armed intruder inside his home and was actively fighting with the intruder.

Police say the intruder was armed with a gun and tried to fire it at the homeowner but it malfunctioned. The homeowner was able to then hit the intruder with a baseball bat, disarming him.

When officers arrived, the suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital for a head injury. The homeowner was not injured.

Police say they're not releasing the identity of the suspect because the investigation is ongoing. He's being charged with attempted murder.

It would be irresponsible for the press to release his name, and he has to be proven guilty first, however obvious it may be.

The homeowner is indeed a good man, because i would have continued to beat him with the bat. He would have tried to kill him if the gun hadn't malfunctioned, so it was his turn. He would have been a bloody mess when the police go there.

I applaud the homeowner for using all available means to protect his home and property. I am grateful the piece of garbage was arrested on the spot. It's refreshing to see good outcomes like this from bad situations. The District Attorney should consider an attempted murder charge with a deadly weapon as well. (-:

Way to go!!! Please tell us the intruder's head injury is more than a bump. The homeowner would be fully justified in cracking this creep's skull. The intruder is fortunate he didn't catch a fatal case of lead poisoning.
