Police have arrested a man Thursday night for sexually assaulting a teenage girl while working as a youth pastor at a local church. Now, the church has responded saying they're "healing" after a terrible situation.

Police say their Internet Crimes Against Children unit picked him up Wednesday inside the Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs.

Investigators accuse Amoroso of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl back in October on multiple occasions in locations across the city. The investigation initially began on October 18. This was at the same time Amoroso was apparently working as a youth pastor at a local church.

This is the statement of Senior Pastor Derek Sissel, of Gateway Church:

Gateway Church is a Christian church in Colorado Springs. Our church requires those who minister on its behalf to practice what the church preaches. We, therefore, will not tolerate the conduct of any minister who exploits a person he is to serve. When Gateway Church recently received an allegation that its youth minister, Josh Amoroso, had acted inappropriately with a teenaged girl, we immediately looked into the matter, reported the information we had to the Colorado Springs Police Department, and terminated Mr. Amoroso. Promptly thereafter, the Church’s leadership communicated with those affected or potentially affected by Mr. Amoroso. The church has reached out and will reach out to the girl abused by Mr. Amoroso. If anyone else has been hurt by Mr. Amoroso, we ask them to contact Pastor Derek Sissel and, if criminal conduct is involved, we ask them to contact law enforcement as soon as possible. We understand that sin wounds deeply and that this is especially so when the sinner holds a pastoral position. We also understand that God heals. These are difficult times for those affected by these events. Please pray for us all. The church will continue trying to do the right thing during the days ahead. It will also continue to cooperate with law enforcement.

Strange how I never expected to see anyone I knew in the news. I knew him from high-school, Spanish class. We weren't close, so I can't comment on his character. Christians aren't superheroes. They can still fall to sin and temptation. Pray for this man and those he wounded.

He was my youth pastor, I moved shortly before all this happened. I'm very sad that this happened because he's a really cool guy. ):

Half you guys would have probably had sext with that girl too, stop acting like you discipline yourself against sexual temptations; dont only reason you guys dont do it, is because of jail, not because she's under 18. And for you all you Jesus freaks, listen to how selfish you sound " only way to heven is through your concept of God and religion" in your dreams.

i started training with this guy october 7th of 2009 at my current place of employment, i remember him growing out his facial hair due to playing Jesus for his Easter play. i cant remember when i stopped seeing him. i came into work and a co-worker informed me of this and i have to say, it was not shocking. HOWEVER to some of the comments i read. FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD. its ok for kids to lead kids- God does not limit with age, race, language, gender or location. these things will continue to happen for the devil rules this earth. josh gave into temptation which we all do (by no means am i justifying his actions ok in any manner) and sin is weighed on earth, unlike in heaven-to God a sin is a sin is a sin. most of these comments are judging and to that you too will be judged. let the man without any sin cast the first stone. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE RELIGOUS FOR THIS TO MAKE SENSE!! you do however have to be saved to enter heaven, hope to see you there :)

She was obviously willing, she's old enough to make decisions. No matter that others don't like it, so they make it unlawful. She's probably make the same if she was 15 which is legal.

I'd wager that they both had a relationship and then the 14 year olds parents found out and cried rape. Pitty for Amoroso, considering colorado's age of consent law begins at 15 lol.

I suspect the girl's parents became suspicious, and the girl admitted all. Obviously, with all the times they met, she was willing. They both need to accept blame, he more so, because he's married.
