Springs police are investigating a break-in at a tax service center Thursday.
The break-in happened just before 5:30 a.m. at Liberty Tax near the corner of Fillmore and Nevada. The coffee shop next door was already open, but employees there didn’t hear anything.
Police said the crooks used a crow bar to open the back door of the tax center. Once inside, they ripped the bolted safe right up out of the floor. The suspects were able to make it out with cash and blank checks. Liberty Tax employees assure customers that no personal information was compromised.
"Our computers are still here. It looks like they broke in for money, and they got money," General Manager Barbara Whiteley said.
Police are currently seeking any information about the suspects to help apprehend them. Anyone who can provide information about the suspects or this crime are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
