A criminal injured an elderly woman after burglarizing one home and then breaking into hers. Fortunately the injury was not serious. The victim called her neighbor as soon as she saw the suspect, asking her what to do. She saw a man in his early 20s going into the house across the street.

Her neighbor, who did not want to be identified, called 911 while the man was ransacking the home in the 2800 block of Country Club Drive.

"While I was talking to 9-1-1, I realized my neighbor tried to call me back,” she said.

She says she was on the phone with 9-1-1 for at least five minutes giving them details about the neighborhood.

"I called my neighbor back, and she said oh--he's been here,” she said. “He's rung my doorbell. I hear him trying to get in."

She called 9/11 back to tell them to hurry, but he got into the home.

"He knocked her down,” the neighbor said. “He covered her face, her mouth, with his hand; and said don't scream, don't yell, be quiet."

When police got there they tracked the man along the nearby golf course with dogs. Eventually they lost the scent at a pair of fresh tire tracks.

"I'm scared because we know there are people like that in our community that are so desperate that they'll break into someone's home,” the neighbor said.

The break-ins happened around 9:30 Monday morning.

The suspect has been described as a black man in his early 20s, 5-foot-9 with an average build. He was wearing a long, dark gray wool coat, a gray hoodie sweatshirt, and possibly a red beanie hat at the time of the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call police, or call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
