The Center For The Bahai Faith was burglarized sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon.

Members tell KKTV 11 News that in between meetings held Wednesday and Thursday, someone had broken in and destroyed much of their property.

Members believe the crooks got in through a back window, which was found broken.

According to church members, the crooks stole $100, a set of drums, a VCR, a DVD player and speakers. They flipped chairs and book shelves; they even stacked the stairwell with chairs and other items.

Members say they found a bat that likely was used to ransack the place.

The floor was completely covered in a white substance, in which members say was from a fire extinguisher they had downstairs.

The group says their faith is about love of all people and they are not looking for revenge; they just hope the crooks will change their lives.

Those of the Bahai faith don't accept donations from people outside of their religion, but will accept help Friday at 8 a.m. to help clean up the Center. The Center is located on 1622 Rainier Drive.

If you have any information on this incident, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

This is horrible! Also, Baha'is aren't to be refered to as "church members" because the Baha'i centre is indeed not a church.

I would call on my fellow Baha'is who hear this story to send prayer and support to the Colorado Springs Bahai Community..Consider giving a monetary gift for Ayyami-Ha as only Baha'is may contribute to the Baha'i Funds. Allah'u'Abha dear friends.

this is a desecration and a hate crime, and those who are found to have done these despicable acts should face the full force of the law.

Our prayers are with the Colorado Springs Baha'is. Hopefully the crime can be investigated and the culprits found.

For clarification. The Baha'i Center is not a church, it is a Baha'i Center where members of the Baha'i Faith and those that are members of other Faiths, gather together for fellowship.

Obviously, this was a "hate crime" since the villans wouldn't expect to find money or a safe at this site.

The address is 1622 Rainier Dr 80910 (1 block north of Monterey on Circle. Mecca did a great job - she was under the gun with little time to get the story done after she left the Baha'i Center interviews.

Some people watch the video, some read the story, some will do both. All reporting bases should be covered to give the entire audience information important to the story. Agree the writing is awful.

Seriously KKTV? You need to PROOFREAD your stories. I had to read the last paragraph twice just to figure what you were trying to say.
