Body Found Under Trailer Identified, Investigation Continues

The county coroner has identified the body found under a trailer in Manitou Springs as Crysta Chisolm of Colorado Springs. Her death was ruled a homicide, but the precise cause of death remains under investigation.

The 32-year-old woman's body was found wrapped in a blanket and tied with rope around 12:40 p.m. on Monday, March 12. The body was discovered by two men hired to remove the trailer, which had been owned by Howard York, who was arrested last month for allegedly robbing a pizza place with a machete.

The property manager, Ruby Yoho, says she had hired workers to remove the trailer at 15 El Paso Blvd. because it hadn't been lived in since York was arrested.

Officers with the Manitou Springs Police Department secured the scene once they verified it was a human body. They also contacted the Sheriff's Office to help in the investigation.

Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Mike Schaller says that the Sheriff’s Office has a standing deal with MSPD to investigate in these situations.

Neighbors in the area were shocked by the discovery.

"It's very unfortunate that the human animal has to kill...just to kill where as an animal out in the wild kills just to survive," Rebecca Hughes said.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Office are continuing to investigate this homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call 390-5555.

There are honest good people that live there. So because of a few bad people you want to Plow down homes that the honest one worked and paid for? That makes a heap of since.

I have to agree that the Gazette has a lot more information on both the victim and the occurance than either of the news networks I regularly follow.

According to the Gazette it had been about 6 months and it was not unusual for her to go that long without contacting her kids who were in the grandparents' custody.

Ms. Hughes is ignorant, many animals kill just for the fun of it. Cats often kill, then don't eat their victims. Coyotes do the same.

You may consider yourself as an animal, but I am NOT an animal. I am a human being. BIG difference.

There may be some seriously nice, and good folks, living in this trailer park, but I have to admit I have seen my share of scum walking around near, in, and out of it since living nearby. If the manager, and staff, can't screen thier tenants who does/will? It only gets worse if screening/background checks are not done. This is one of the main reasons Manitou is going to hell very quickly. It's a haven for those that hide from the law, and want to continue thier activites.
