Residents in west side neighborhood are still stunned by the attempted kidnapping of an area woman.
Police say a woman was walking home when a man got out of his car and grabbed her arm. She was able to break free; he was scared off by neighborhood activity and drove away.
The incident happened Wednesday night around 7:30 near Thorndale Park, which is in the area of 23rd and Uintah.
Investigators searched the park and the surrounding area, but were unable to locate him.
"Shock, shock...this is a really nice neighborhood. Lived here a long time. My mom brought us up here, I'm bringing my kids up...just shock," Jenny Kirksey said.
"I guess that could happen to anyone, anywhere, and so you always have to pay attention to the surroundings," Sarah Sacco told 11 News.
Police say they do believe this man is a threat to the community.
"The biggest concern is one: first of all she's ok. Secondly, we don't want to see this sort of thing happen again," Colorado Springs Sergeant Jim Jeffcott said.
That suspect is described as a white man and unkempt. He’s about 6 feet tall, roughly 200 pounds and fit. He's possibly in his 30s and last seen driving a green, older model SUV with Wyoming license plates.
