A 26-year-old man is in jail on multiple charges of assault, including assault on a police officer.

Police say Adam Herndon was taken to Memorial Hospital on suspicion of drugs after officers responded to an apartment on the Springs northeast side around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Herndon's girlfriend reportedly told police he assaulted her.

When Herndon was in a hospital bed, he pulled out his IV with his teeth, and bit his brother who was trying to stop him, according to police. When an officer tried to stop the suspect, Herndon allegedly punched that officer in the arm and then kicked a hospital tech in the chest.

Herndon is in jail on two counts of 3rd degree assault and one count of 2nd degree assault on a peace officer.

Colorado Springs police say hospital attacks don't happen often..

Who cares what the reason for his IDIOTIC BEHAIVOR WAS. There should never be any reason to hit any medical professional. 1st we (medical) dont care about your legal issues, You (The patient) come to us. we are here to take care of you.

@ Dear Shannon, you are so typical. If you don't agree with someone, you say they are smoking MMJ and live in a basement, are liberal and must be a junkie. Typical north side redneck mentality. YOu are the peasants that are portrayed in the old horror movies, going after anything you don't understand and fear with clubs and pitch forks ready to crucify some one you don't like. Frontier justice is not justice but frightened little people in a crowd. YOu never make any sense and should have learned to reason.

Ok First he was trying to overdose on his seizure medication. He is not a druggy! Second the reason he took the medication is because his girlfriend was leaving him, and for good reason. The medication offected his thinking and yes he made some bad decissions and assulted other's. I will not defend him just want you guys to understand what the news doesn't tell you!!!

@ Mike, the state wants to insure that those who protect politicians, the police, are feared by all. Cops, we have been taught, are of far more value then you or I. Does that sound right to you? It sound wrong to me. I don't want to have anyone die but if someone choses to become a cop, they must be made aware of the risk and those who hire "police officers" know that in order to get people that are moral and capable of truly doing the job, they must lie to them because no one in their right mind would be willing to kill or be killed, have most everyone else shun or hate you and do it for little pay without being made to be a hero or something great they are told. It stands to reason those in power must protect those who protect them. The question is, why do those in power fear others so? There are many crazies out there but why are the police given powers over us and the safety to abuse that power sometimes? This needs to be looked into. I have been an LEO.

What a model citizen. The kind of guy you want your daughter to marry. This guy should be drafted at once and sent to Afghanistan where he can take out some of his rage or something. Put him in the Marine Corp where he can learn some discipline. Don't waste taxpayer dollars by putting him in jail.
