Child Molestation Fugitive from Indiana Arrested by Police in Fountain

Some inter-state cooperation between authorities in Colorado Springs and Indiana leads to child molestation arrest.

On Tuesday, April 6, detectives with the Schererville Indiana Police Department contacted Colorado Springs police about a fugitive, Robert Behmke, who was wanted out of their agency for child molestation charges with a nation wide extradition.

Springs Tactical Enforcement Unit handles these types of fugitive cases, and thanks to leads that the suspect might be staying in Fountain, officers were able to capture Behmke.

Fountain police helped Springs police coordinate the effort. Behmke was arrested on Thursday morning on the 900 block of Grinde Avenue after police found a vehicle linked to Behmke outside an apartment in the area.

Behmke now faces extradition back to Indiana on that charge of child molestation. The circumstances surrounding the crime are still vague at this point.

I wonder if they read him his rights before they cuffed him. We do have rights in this country you know, and no one is above the law.
