Colorado Springs police say they've made in arrest in a violent assault and robbery at a local convenience store Tuesday.
Police say two suspects entered the Loaf'N Jug Store store on Chestnut Street in Colorado Springs and asked the clerk about a lighter and cigarettes. One of the suspects then tackled the clerk to the ground and struck him numerous times in the face with a closed fist causing cuts, abrasions, and a black eye.
Officers say the suspect then left on foot going north from the store. The clerk was taken to Penrose Main hospital. Officers along with a K-9 chased and were forced to use a Taser to take him into custody.
The suspect, Jace Michael Todd, will be charged with aggravated robbery, burglary, and first degree criminal trespass. Todd is also wanted on a federal warrant for escape from the state of Virginia.
The other suspect is still on the loose. If you have any information about this crime, call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
