Police are looking into a report that someone tried to lure a middle school student while they were walking home from school.

The report was made by the child, who told police that on Thursday, February 11, 2010, a white SUV pulled up next to him on his way home from school on 8600 block of Scarborough Drive in Colorado Springs.

The child said the SUV had dark tinted windows with Colorado license plates and a small dent in the right quarter panel. A man inside the van asked the student if he wanted a ride home. The student said no, but the man apparently persisted, trying to use candy to get the child into the vehicle. The student said no again, and that's when the van left.

The child described the passenger of the vehicle as an African-American man in his early 20s with short black hair. The passenger was wearing a dark colored shirt.

The student said he hadn't seen the vehicle before or since the incident happened.

Police are looking into the incident, which they call suspicious.
