Pueblo police say a strange man knocked on a 94-year-old man's door on Saturday in Pueblo and asked him for a cup of sugar, but when the elderly man turned his back to get the sugar he was tackled.
The attack happened at night on the 1700 block of Stone Ave. which is off of Lake Ave. near W. Northern Blvd.
The attacker threw the elderly man down a flight of stairs and then attempted to smother the victim with a plastic bag.
The suspect stole items from the house before leaving the scene.
Police were summoned to the house because the victim was wearing a medical alarm bracelet.
The 94-year-old male is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries.
Police say this is a warning to all our senior citizens not to open the door to any strangers no matter what they are asking for.
