Pueblo police say a strange man knocked on a 94-year-old man's door on Saturday in Pueblo and asked him for a cup of sugar, but when the elderly man turned his back to get the sugar he was tackled.

The attack happened at night on the 1700 block of Stone Ave. which is off of Lake Ave. near W. Northern Blvd.

The attacker threw the elderly man down a flight of stairs and then attempted to smother the victim with a plastic bag.

The suspect stole items from the house before leaving the scene.

Police were summoned to the house because the victim was wearing a medical alarm bracelet.

The 94-year-old male is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries.

Police say this is a warning to all our senior citizens not to open the door to any strangers no matter what they are asking for.

If you have any information on this case you are urged to call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (542-7867) or visit their web site at www.Pueblocrimestoppers.com. Your information could earn you a cash reward.

This is such a horrible crime and you are right only a coward would treat a person this way. Whoever is responsible for this crime should be punished to the fullest extent. Of course I can't say what I really wish could be done to this coward that commited this crime...but I am sure others share my feelings. My prayers are with this man & his family as he recovers.

The death penalty is a easy way out for a s.o.b.like this when you catch him please do a prisoner exchange to california trade one a.h--- for another let the inmates in Corcoran St. Prison take care of him.

Wish this loser would have come to my door for some sugar. I would have given him 5 pounds worth right across his chops. I hope the elderly man is OK.
