Why The Video Looks Shaky (Don Ward)
Updated: 06/18/2013 - We did a quick helicopter tour of the Black Forest burn area. Someone asked why the video looks shaky.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is asking for help solving a child abduction that occurred on June 19. They posted a video to YouTube showing a vehicle believed to be involved with the crime.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the girl was abducted in the area of Stratmoor Valley along the 1200 block of Forest Road around 3:30 p.m. She was dropped off at a gas station on the 4400 block of Loomis Ave. around 3:50.
The victim was walking alone to a nearby friend's house, according to her sister, when she was forcibly shoved into a vehicle. About 15-20 minutes later, the little girl was dropped off at a gas station.
The suspect is described as a balding white male, wearing a green cap. He may go by the name "Jason." He was driving a blue 4-door sedan with a black interior at the time of the abduction.
On Friday afternoon, the Sheriff's Office posted this video of the suspect vehicle to YouTube.
A neighbor, who says she saw the abduction, didn't realize what was happening. She says she saw the man grab the girl by the arm and scoop her up by her stomach then throw her into the car.
Another witness, another little girl, said she saw the same thing. Then saw as her friend was pounding on the glass of the car as the man drove away.
11 News learned that this may not be the first time the suspect was in the neighborhood. Parents there tell us they believe they have seen the same man before.
They say he has been canvassing that block for week, always wearing the same green hat. They say he would drive three different cars, the blue Cobalt, plus a green jeep and brown, rust older car.
Neighbors believe the man may live nearby, since he has been around so much.
Sheriff deputies say they are looking into the information.
The sister of the 8-year-old victim says she can't share details about the investigation, but says that her little sister was not sexually assaulted.
The victim's sister tells 11 News her family hopes parents will never let their children out of their sight, even if they are just going next door to play with a friend.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 390-5555 immediately.
