Dismembered Body, Will Take Weeks To Learn Who She Was

Investigators are trying to identify a woman's body found in a remote part of Custer County west of Pueblo.

Custer County Coroner Art Nordyke says the body found was Nov. 24 by someone who stopped to use the bathroom by an old campground. He says the body had been there a while and was partially dismembered, likely by animals.

The El Paso County coroner's office is conducting an autopsy. Nordyke says it could be three weeks before he knows the cause of death.

The Custer County sheriff's office says the woman had dark hair, was white or Hispanic in her 30s or 40s and was from 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 190 pounds.

Authorities are looking for answers and hope that you can help. If you have any tips on this case call 719-783-2270 or email custersheriff@centurytel.net.

Look, why dont u all just leave this alone and let the police do their jobs. Some things that they may already know and can prove, could end up being ruined by media involvement. The body has been identified, let us the family deal with what the police need to do in Rebecca's murder. Please be patient if your sister is missing, and be happy that she did not suffer the same fate as Rebecca. I pray you find your sister alive! I hope that whatever you find, you can find peace in life. We will never give up on trying to find who did this to her. Becky was not a piece of garbage to dismember and throw away as garbage! It is sick, demented, and the person that did it, is living with it every day. God be with the police and CBI as they do their jobs in this case.

Maybe they didn't want it to get out so they could do a real investigation. maybe by the media knowing it could mess someting up. So WAY TO GO FOR NOTIFING THEM!!! There was a 29 hispanic female missing in pueblo about 1-2 years ago she was aprox 160lbs and she has never been found she was last seen with her boyfriend...thats probley who it is. Atleast she can properly be placed to rest and hope who ever did this will spend life behind bars!

How juvenile. No, I am not the perpetrator but I would like to know why the sheriff's office is so upset that it got out to the community. Don't we, as the public, have a right to know if there is a possibility of danger in our county? That some killer is running around our county? I might have known an honest opinion from a citizen would be turned into an accusation of guilt for being concerned. I hope you are proud of yourself.

Are you the perpetrator and not getting your 15 min of fame? You seem awful upset and seem to know too much about it. If you are, they're coming for you.

Anybody have a clue why if the sheriff's office needed help on info about this incident, they didn't report it sooner. The body was found on 11/24 but they first notified the news media about it on 11/27. Oh, no wait, they did not notify the news media. I did by sending a news tip. I think if there is someone running around dropping body parts who is a murderer, the residents should be made aware of it if for no other reason than safety. Be extra careful - pay attention - lock your doors. What a joke!!! I would expect they had search teams out looking for the other body parts or did they just pick it up, take it to the coroner's office and walk away from the crime scene. I was told it happened on CR Road 386. I bet you can drive that whole road and not find any evidence of any searches or crime scenes. Has CBI been called in? Has a forensics person been called to try to identify this person? No, let's just keep this quiet and pretend it didn't happen.
