When Datha Nation walked into a Wells Fargo Bank inside a Longmont grocery store, employees say they recognized her as the same person who robbed the bank last June. This time, she approached the tellers with a note but became nervous and left the store before she passed it to them.
After the 4:55 p.m. incident Monday, Longmont Police officers searched the area around the grocery store on Ken Pratt Blvd. They found Nation in a vehicle parked in a nearby lot. They also found the note she hesitated to pass during the attempted robbery.
She was arrested without incident.
The investigation also connected the 64-year-old to robbery of the same bank on June 9, 2011, and another attempted robbery on March 27, 2012. Those crimes both occurred at the same bank inside the Safeway at 1050 Ken Pratt Blvd. In the June robbery, police say Nation handed the teller a threatening note and got away with cash.
Police commend the employees of the bank for their diligence and attention to detail.
Nation is charged with two counts of attempted robbery and one count of aggravated robbery.
