A wanted man runs from authorities, climbing through a business' duct work trying to escape.
It happened Sunday on S. Tejon Street. Police say an extra duty officer saw the wanted man Sunday just before 2:30 p.m. and followed him until the suspect darted into a Jimmy John's store, and hid in the bathroom.
In the bathroom, police say the man, Shawn McConnell, then allegedly removed a ceiling tile and then entered the building's duct work, insulation, and electrical conduit to escape.
The restaurant was evacuated just as a precaution while officers searched for an hour in the ceiling and attic.
A number of officers set up a building perimeter and watched the roof tops. That's when the man jumped down from the ceiling into the lobby of US Bank at Tejon and Pikes Peak.
K-9 was summoned to assist in the bank search. The K-9 found the suspect hiding underneath a bank stairwell.
The suspect was originally wanted for Felony Escape, Probation Violation, and considered a flight risk. He'll now face new charges of Criminal Trespass and Damage to Property.
