A unsuspecting burglar is caught on camera by the owner of the building he targeted early Sunday morning.
Springs Police say the burglary happened around 4 a.m. Sunday, at 306 N. Cascade Ave. in Colorado Springs. The home is broken up into separate apartments, and all doors are usually locked, according to the owner of the building, Brad Stark.
Stark tells 11 News that the male suspect was able to get into the second floor of the building because the fire escape door was apparently left unlocked.
In surveillance video, taken by Stark, you can see the male suspect, dressed in all black, stumble down a hallway and around a corner. In a later portion of video, the suspect is seen fleeing down the stairs to get away.
Stark says the suspect was scared off after allegedly walking into an unsuspecting tenants apartment. The suspect reportedly stole a cell phone, a credit card, and car keys, before waking up the tenant, who scared him out of the building.
Police are still looking for the suspect on the surveillance video. If you have any information about the crime, you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers. In Colorado Springs, the phone number is 634-STOP.
