Police Investigating Early Morning Break-in and Possible Sex Assault

Police are investigating an early morning break-in and possible sexual assault on the North East side of Colorado Springs.

The crime happened on Escapardo Way, that's in a neighborhood just West of Powers and Constitution on the North East side of the city.

Police say the victim under 18, and because this may have also been a sexual assault, police will not be releasing any more information about this victim.

What they did tell us is that she may have been house sitting here in this neighborhood, when someone broke into an upstairs window about 2:00 a.m this morning.

Neighbors tell 11 news they are shocked and on edge. That they can't believe it happened here because this neighborhood is so quiet.

Neighbors say the suspect cut open the screen on the home to get in. Police tell 11 News the suspect fled out of that same window. Police brought out the dogs and the helicopter to try to find the suspect, but they weren't able to track the suspect down.

Police do not have anyone in custody. They are asking anyone with information on this crime to call crimestoppers at 634-STOP.
