Two liquor stores on North Academy Boulevard were involved in two smash and grab robberies overnight. Just before 4 a.m. Sunday morning a window break alarm was set off at the You Betcha Liquor store at 5406 N. Academy Blvd. About 45 minutes later a window break alarm also sounded at the Colorado Wine store located at 5055 N. Academy Blvd.

Colorado Springs police are investigating the two incidents to see if there are any relations between the two crimes. The store owner of You Betcha liquor store provided store surveillance video of two suspects entering the store and grabbing merchandise. The burglars were wearing bandannas over their faces.

Both stores report that they have had other recent break-ins similar to those of early Sunday morning. Colorado Springs Police report that Colorado Wine had a break in March of 2009 and You Betcha Liquors had a break-in on April 24th. Both stores had video surveillance in place.

If you have any information about these crimes you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 634-STOP.
