Police were called to 2525 Scorpio Drive around 9:30 Monday night, on a report of some suspicious circumstances.
They just released the victim's name: 60-year-old Florence Mina Miller-Weiler. She was a retired school teacher from North, a District 11 middle school. "She would go out of way. She was strict, but she wanted the kids to succeed. She didn't accept failure. She would push the kids as hard as they're willing to go," said the middle school's principal, David Bakalyan.
Springs Police also say they have identified a suspect, but aren't releasing the identity at this time. They do say that the crime wasn't random.
According to police, a family member found a woman's body in the house. Police are releasing few details in the early part of the investigation.
Police say an autopsy is expected in the next few days to determine the cause and manner of death.
If ruled a homicide, this will be the 6th in 2009. There were eight in the City of Colorado Springs at this time last year.
