Colorado Springs police are investigating a home invasion that happened early Wednesday morning.

Authorities say it happened at 3:21 a.m. Reportedly four men, armed with a gun, and a woman busted into an apartment at the Apollo Village Apartments, located at 458 South Murray Blvd. in Colorado Springs.

The victims, a man and his teenage children, say they were asleep in the apartment when they were awakened by loud banging on the door. When they looked out the window, they saw a Hispanic female kicking at the door. That's when she and the other suspects forced entry.

Witnesses say a Hispanic male held the family at gunpoint while the suspects searched for a dog. The suspects were apparently looking for a dog that had been stolen from them.

After searching and coming up empty, the suspects left the apartment. The victims were not harmed.

The suspects were described as a Hispanic female in her twenties, a Hispanic male in his twenties with a shaved head approximately five-foot-ten-inches, and three younger black males. The suspects were last seen in an older model dark colored four-door vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
