Colorado Springs police say two 20-year-old men face charges after being found with an expensive air conditioner, taken off an industrial building at Dublin and N. Academy.
Investigators say the victims realized the air conditioning unit, worth $45,000, had been taken off the roof and rolled into the trash dumpster behind the building at 1710 Dublin Blvd. on Monday morning. When detectives followed up, the AC unit was missing from the dumpster.
One of the victim's brothers visited Western Steel on Drennan Loop later Monday, and discovered two 20-year-old men with the AC unit in the back of their truck. Police were called out, and the two men were taken into custody.
The identity of the suspects has not yet been released, as police say their investigation is not closed yet. It's not clear if the suspects were trying to sell the unit as a whole, or trying to sell it in pieces for scrap metal.
