The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says a Sexually Violent Predator has moved into the county.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has been notified that Joseph Lautrop, deemed a “sexually violent predator” (SVP) by the State of Colorado, has moved to 1349 Soaring Eagle Dr., located in El Paso County.
Lautrop was released from the Colorado Department of Corrections on August 4, 2007.
Lautrop’s criminal history reveals a 1999 conviction in Adams County, Colorado for 3rd Degree Sexual Assault.
He was subsequently sentenced to two years probation.
Mr. Lautrop’s criminal history also reveals a 2002 conviction in Adams County, for attempted sexual assault.
Mr. Lautrop was subsequently sentenced to six years in the Department of Corrections for this crime.
Mr. Lautrop is described as a white male, 41 years of age, 5’2” tall, 135 lbs., with brown hair, and blue eyes.
A Community Notification meeting will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 7:00 PM, at Christa McAuliffe Elementary School, located at 830 Hathaway Drive.
This meeting is open to the public, but due to the mature content of the meeting, anyone under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
