Police Looking For Carjacker

Colorado Springs police say a carjacker is on the loose after targeting a woman with a knife and taking her vehicle.

Officers say it happened Monday morning around 8 at the Candlewood Apartments.

According to the police report, the woman said that after backing her car into a parking space, a man approached her window and told her to get out of the truck. When she told him no, he pulled a knife out of his waistband and grabbed her, telling her not to make things harder than they had to be. The man, thought to be in his early 20s, drove off with her truck. The woman said he told her she would get the truck back.

The truck is a red single cab 2005 Dodge Ram with Texas license plate 83SMY9 and a Fort Carson sticker in the driver's side window. The man is described as having a slim build, standing about 5'8-5'9 with black hair. The man drove the vehicle towards Van Teylingen when he left the complex.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

The woman was smart by letting him have the truck and by not getting back in when he told her to. No vehical is worth your life.

At your 4 p.m. TV show you didn't give the color of the truck nor the license plate number. Not everyone has access to the internet to get these specifics. You say your reporting is award winning. Not if you leave out pertinent information on your TV show.

Another situation where a concealed weapon might have been useful. That and this woman paying attention to her surroundings may have totally prevented this carjacking.
