People were evacuated from their homes overnight as officers confronted a man wanted for murder.
After a brief standoff, police arrested Tyler Williamson, 24, for allegedly shooting a man multiple times outside a Colorado Springs bar early Sunday morning. It is the 16th homicide for the city in 2012.
The victim was unresponsive when police got to the 2 Dog Tavern bar on the 3100 block of South Academy around 1:40 a.m. He was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital and later identified as Kevin McCray, 35, of Colorado Springs.
Reverse 911 calls were sent to residents of an apartment complex near Union and Constitution while police were involved in the standoff with Williamson early Monday.
Williamson is now being held without bond at the El Paso County Jail. He is charged with first degree murder.
