Whole Food Gingerbread Houses Recalled

Warning to those who purchased gingerbread houses from Whole Foods Market between November 1 and December 23: the product has been linked to food poisoning outbreaks around the nation, and has been recalled.

While no food poisoning outbreaks have been reported in Colorado, they have been reported in 23 states, with indications that the gingerbread house may be to blame due to bacterial contamination. Customers who purchased the gingerbread houses—fully assembled kits sold in Whole Food bakeries in a clear plastic wrap—can return them to the store they were purchased at for a full refund. If out of the package, Whole Foods will allow the gingerbread houses to be returned in a closed plastic bag, inside a sealed trash can, for safety reasons.

Consumers with any questions can call Whole Foods at 512-542-0878 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CST.
