Saleswoman Karen Rushneck specializes in jeans and says the right pair can make a huge difference.
Karen Rushneck says, "Just because something is trendy doesn't mean it's going to be perfect for your body type."
Consumer Reports ShopSmart's Jody Rohlena checked out several jeans that promise to flatter.
According to Jody Rohlena, "We bought jeans that claim to slim, shape, and tuck and asked several of our staffers to try them on and compare them to their old jeans."
First Melissa - her old jeans are from the juniors department and she didn't like how they looked from the back. This $42-dollar pair promises to help and did. They're Lee's Perfectly Lifts You.
Antonella's old jeans gave her a muffin top and just didn't flatter her at the waist. They also did nothing to elongate her legs. With these $44 jeans she looks slimmer and taller. The waist fits better, too - no muffin top! They're Levi's Perfectly Slimming 512 Straight Leg.
And Jennifer's been losing weight so her jeans are too big and baggy - hiding her new figure.
These $50 ones make Jen look a size smaller. They're L-L Bean's Slimming Jeans.
What's ShopSmart's take?
Rohlena says, "You don't need to spend a fortune. It's all about the fit and what feels and looks right on your body."
And a knowledgeable salesperson like Karen can't hurt either.
And just in case you thought you were the only one - in ShopSmart's survey, super low-waisted jeans are the style women most want to go away and never come back.
