Two people are in custody after an attempt to arrest a Grand Junction man led to a standoff lasting several hours in Poncha Springs.
Chaffee County sheriff's deputies arrested 36-year-old David Todd Dawson early Wednesday on suspicion of resisting arrest, failure to leave and other charges. Gerri Dawson was arrested for failure to leave.
Her age and relationship to David Dawson were not immediately known.
Deputies attempted to arrest David Dawson about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Poncha Lodge for an alleged domestic violence incident, but he and the woman allegedly refused to come out of the motel.
Sheriff Tim Walker convinced the two to surrender after several hours.
Poncha Springs is four miles west of Salida and 108 miles southwest of Denver.
