Previously unseen footage has been discovered showing John McCain as a prisoner of war in Hanoi on the day he was released to the U.S. military by his Vietnamese captors.

The footage was shot on March 14th, 1973 and was found in the archives of Swedish broadcaster SVT.

It shows a 37-year-old McCain grimacing as he makes his way off a bus with other prisoners and walking with a limp. The prisoners then stand in rows until a Vietnamese official calls their name. McCain walks up to salute and shake hands with U.S. military officers.

Associated Press Television News has acquired exclusive worldwide distribution rights to the SVT footage and edited into a 2-minute, 14-second video of a remarkable day in the life of the Republican presidential candidate.
