An employee has died after an explosion and fire at a chemical manufacturing plant in Mead.

Weld County Undersheriff Margie Martinez says 37-year-old Leslie Robertson of Loveland was burned in the incident Friday morning and was taken by air ambulance to University of Colorado Hospital.

Deputy Weld County Coroner Chris Robillard says Robertson has died from his injuries.

Martinez says no other injuries were reported at the plant and that the building's sprinkler system extinguished the fire.

The cause of the blast and fire are under investigation.
