Supporters of a measure defining a fertilized human egg as a person are set to turn in petitions in hopes of getting it on Colorado's November's ballot.
A group called Colorado for Equal Rights plans to submit the petitions Tuesday. The group has been collecting signatures since September when the Colorado Supreme Court upheld the language of the proposed amendment to the state constitution.
The group needs at least 76,000 valid signatures to make it on the ballot.
Toni Panetta, spokeswoman for an opposition group called the Protect Families Protect Choices Coalition, says the measure is vague and could restrict access to health care.
