A man featured in Fremont County's Most Wanted list was arrested after a nearly three-hour chase Monday afternoon.
The chase started at noon when a Fremont County Sheriff's deputy saw 25-year-old Justin Trent Rien leave a home in Penrose. The deputy says he was driving a maroon Chevy pickup. He was wanted on a felony assault/parole violation from the Colorado Department of Corrections. He also had a traffic warrant from Colorado State Patrol.
The deputy tried to stop Rien, but Rien kept going south into Florence. He left paved roads southeast of Florence. A private helicopter flown by a sheriff's deputy helped follow Rien while deputies chased him through ranch lands. He also went through cattle fences and ranch fences while trying to get away.
He crossed into Pueblo County where a deputy put down spike strips. He was able to avoid the spike strips. He was eventually caught on Highway 96 between Wetmore and the Pueblo Reservoir when a sergeant with the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office used his car to block the road.
The whole chase lasted two hours and 40 minutes. Besides the warrants he already had, Rien now faces eluding, trespass and criminal mischief charges.
