SPOKANE, Wash. - Former CSU-Pueblo All-American defensive end/linebacker Chase Vaughn has signed a contract with the Spokane Shock of the Arena Football League, the Shock announced Tuesday.

Vaughn, who has played on several professional teams since graduating in 2009, joins the Shock, which will play its fourth professional season in 2013.

Most recently, Vaughn was playing for the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League, but that league has folded its 2012 season for financial reasons. He had previously played for the Colorado Ice of the Indoor Football League and participated in training camp for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League in 2012.

A native of Aurora, Colo., Vaughn will compete for a roster spot in the summer league, which plays games from March through July.

As a member of the Colorado State University-Pueblo football team, Vaughn earned an All-American honor (as a defensive end in 2008) and was a two-time first-team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection. He graduated from CSU-Pueblo as the career leader in sacks in a single game, season and career, and he still holds the single game and season marks.
