Send Man Allegedly Dangles Child Over Third Floor Balcony

A Colorado Springs man is facing child abuse charges after police say he dangled a 3-year-old boy from a third floor balcony.

Officers were called to an apartment on Bijou Street near the Citadel Mall around 3:20 p.m. Friday on reports that Flores, 28, was watching three young children while "very intoxicated." Police found Flores in a drunken state, but after seeing a second adult, who appeared sober, in the apartment as well, officers determined the kids' welfare was not in danger.

As they started to leave, officers say they spotted Flores dangling one of the children over the balcony. The four officers on scene split up, with two racing downstairs to catch the child if he was dropped, while the other two ran towards Flores and the little boy. Police say Flores pulled the child back over the railing when saw police coming towards him.

Flores was arrested on charges of child abuse and reckless endangerment.
