The family of a Colorado Springs boy who died in a skateboarding accident has set up a memorial fund in his honor.

Twelve-year-old Charlie and his friend were skateboarding down the street when the victim lost control, fell and hit his head on the ground. Police say he wasn't wearing a helmet.

Charlie was taken to the hospital in serious condition, and died of his injuries.

The memorial fund is called "Skate Safe For Charlie." People can go to any Wells Fargo in the Springs and donate.

There will also be a candlelight vigil Thursday at the scene of the accident at 7 p.m. The vigil was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but the family had to reschedule.

The accident happened on Howard Avenue near Palmer Park Boulevard and North Circle.
