I-25 Reopens Following Fatal Crash

Colorado State Patrol tells 11 News that one person has died as result of a single car rollover.

Northbound I-25 is now reopened at the Mesa Ridge exit (mile marker 132). It was closed for more than an hour early Monday morning.

Just after midnight, the driver of a Toyota station wagon lost control and started traveling off the road. As the driver attempted to regain control, State Patrol says the vehicle continued spinning out of the southbound lanes, then rolled into the northbound lanes. The two passengers, both kids, were ejected from the vehicle, while the driver was partially ejected.

The driver has been identified as 42-year-old Pamela McCullom of Fountain. She was not wearing a seat belt and later died at the hospital.

Ten-year-old Emony Whiteley and 13-year-old Kirsten Smith were also not wearing their seat belts. Both sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

This is the second fatal crash on this stretch of interstate in a week. 11 News is working to get information from CDOT as to whether there is anything about this particular area that makes it more prone to serious crashes.
