Crews Make Progress Restoring Water Service Near Major Sinkhole

Posted: 6:47 PM Dec 13, 2012
Reporter: KKTV

A water main break caused a sinkhole to open up on a street in Colorado Springs.

While police were trying to close down the road, a woman drove her truck into the 7-foot-deep sinkhole on Astrozon Boulevard.. The driver was not hurt, but did require a tow truck to get her vehicle out of the hole.

Water was initially out for about 100 homes in the area. Forty-two customers had service restored just before 7:45 Thursday night. Crews hope to have the rest restored by 8 a.m. Friday.

Astrozon Boulevard remains closed between Astrozon Circle and Nadine Drive.
