Off-duty Boulder police officer accused of DUI

Posted: 8:13 PM Dec 6, 2012
Reporter: AP

An off-duty Boulder police officer is on administrative leave after she was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk in Thornton.

Police say officer Elizabeth Ward was driving on Interstate 25 on Tuesday when a Thornton police officer responding to a report of a drunk driver found Ward had pulled off the road. Police say Ward told the officer she was drunk. She was still wearing her police uniform.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera, Thornton police took a sample of Ward's blood and issued her a summons for weaving and DUI.

Ward is a DUI enforcement officer for Boulder police. Her arrest came less than three weeks after another Boulder officer's arrest on suspicion of DUI.
