Ernie in Briargate says his wife got a call this afternoon from a man with a foreign accent congratulating her. She was told she had won a cruise. The catch... she had to give the stranger her driver's license number to claim the prize. She didn't.
Betty in Penrose told me she was called today about Medicaid. A man told her she would get a new card as soon as she verified her address. Then the man wanted to know what bank she used to have her social security check direct deposited. She questioned why and he hung up. She's hoping seniors won't be duped into giving out their personal information because they're confused about health care changes.
Another Betty in Colorado Springs was told President Obama would soon be calling her to congratulate her for winning $5 Million and a new Chrysler. She was asked to wire $2,500 to the President's secretary in Sacramento even though the White House is in Washington, D.C. Because Betty has a new number, I added it to the national no call list. That hopefully will put a dent in the 20+ calls she gets everyday!
