With two wars going on overseas, servicemen and women and their families say they're feeling more stressed now than ever before. That's why the Air Force 310th Space Wing is helping its reservists re-adjust to home life through a new program founded by First Lady Michelle Obama.

The Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program is helping with everything from money management to marriage enrichment. It's a post deployment event that helps the reservists open up. It’s a chance for them to talk about their experiences and transition back to normal life.

Fighting in the war on terror is emotionally difficult for many in the military. "There's some things we talk about in deployments and some things we don't talk about and avoid," says Sgt. Sidney Birch of the 310th Air Wing.

One of the counselors at the event recalls his childhood. "When my grandfather came back from World War II, he never told his story," says Bob Leivers, Chaplain of the Air Wing. Keeping it inside is what this program is hoping these reservists don't do.

Sgt. Birch recently got back from his third deployment. "I think by coming to a program like this, it helps bring out some of the emotions and feelings that we are dealing with, but don't want to confront," says Sgt. Birch.

"They come back from these deployments and things have changed, their jobs have changed, and their families have changed, and there's a lot of reintegration issues they run into," says Technical Sgt. Jesse Tames.

This is Sgt. Birch's first time attending the event and he brought his wife Marlene. "It's an opportunity to discuss things on both sides of the fence. I am sure there are things the families are concerned about that they want to express as well," says Sgt. Birch.

About 35 reservists attended the program on Saturday. Counselors are available to help them after the program. If you are at Schriever Air Force Base and want more information on this event you can call the SAFB Military Family Life Consultant at (719) 651-3379 or you can log on to
