An Air Force Academy staffer who helped build a worship area for Pagans and other Earth-centered religions says he and others are the victims of a hate crime because someone placed a wooden cross at their site.

Air Force Academy officials condemned the incident and warned cadets Wednesday that the behavior would not be tolerated. The cross was left at the Pagan worship site two weeks ago.

The worship area consists of a double circle of stones atop a hill on the campus. Academy officials say they don't know who was responsible for the cross.

The academy has said they've made religious tolerance a priority. Many cadets reported in a 2004 survey that some were ostracized because they weren't religious or heard jokes about their beliefs.

"Hate crimes" are being pushed to legally censor free speech. The big religion in this town has become political, therefore it's always going to get more press than those that wield less, if any political power.

Wiccans should be recognized as a religion yet with all the overt ignorance against this religion no wonder so many are "in the closet." Wiccans aren't devil worshippers or Satanists they worship nature created by a higher authority. What does it matter to the person who wondered how many Wiccans are in the AFA, this is a religion recognized and practiced my many and should have equal rights and treatment as any other. Leaving a cross is akin to burning a cross and those responsible are truly biggoted as sadly so many in this world are.

i think this is getting ridiculous... wiccans n pagans have been around wayy before jesus christ ever was... we are taught to respect all religions yet ours isnt... if ppl would do their research they would find out that we r not bad ppl... there is nothin fake about what we do or what we believe in. i think its disrespectful to those air force cadets who follow wicca, they are the future to our military. we support our military right?? no matter their faith?? ill even be right there fightin this with them... everyone has their own place of worship... leave theirs alone...
