Fort Carson Loses Another Hero Fighting in Afghanistan
Pfc. Matthew E. Wildes, 18, died Thursday, August 27 in Afghanistan when his vehicle was hit with an improvised explosive device. Wildes was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson.

The U.S. Department of Defense says another soldier has been killed while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Pfc. Matthew E. Wildes, 18, died Thursday, August 27 in Afghanistan when his vehicle was hit with an improvised explosive device. Wildes was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson.
Wildes joined the Army on October 16, 2008. This was his first deployment. His unit deployed to Afghanistan on May 24. Wildes received a National Defense Service Medal Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Combat Star Combat Infantry Badge and an Army Service Ribbon.
Wildes was a native of Hammond, Louisiana.

i agree to bring everyone home. we should not lose another life and destroy another american family for these endless wars. my husband is there now too with unit and i do not agree with it. what is happening everyday is heartbreaking.
Remember no news is good news. These soldiers are very busy.
If a family member has not heard from thier soldier since they have been deployed, I am sorry to tell you that it is the choice of the soldier. Communication is slow, however if the soldier had wanted to contact you they have had the chance. To the comment the Commander doesn't think we can win, what are you talking about? I believe you are just trying to stir up trouble isn't that right Mrs Mullins.
