If there is anything that remains the same it is change as a constant. Fort Carson today, said farewell to Col. Eugene Smith as the Garrison Commander and welcomed Col. Robert McLaughlin as the new Garrison Commander at the Mountain Post.
The role of Garrison Commander at an Army Post is similar to that of a city or town mayor. The Garrison Commander is in charge of all the facilities and operations of the post as host to various commands such as the 4th Infantry Division.
While serving as Garrison Commander at Fort Carson, Col. Smith received numerous awards for the level of excellence he and his staff maintained. Col. McLaughlin said that he set his immediate goals of maintaining those levels and broadening the relationship between Fort Carson and the surrounding community.

If private business moved non-combat people around as much as the military does, they would all go broke. Perhaps this fellow got a promotion, but the in and out of the general population has got to be a fleece of tax payer dollars.
Col Smith was awesome! Did a great job running the installation and moving it into the 21st century. He created the "Best Hometown in The Army"
