The mother of a Fort Carson soldier is gaining national attention for her new book. The book is called, The Warrior: A Mother's Story of a Son at War. It is filled with poems and her thoughts as her son served our country.

Author Frances Richey was in Colorado Springs Wednesday to share her story. Her son, Ben Richey is a 1998 graduate of West Point and has served two tours in Iraq.

"It was so terrifying being his mom, seeing him enter this world that I knew was going to be so danger. Writing was an outlet for me. It was a way to express how I was feeling," said Author Frances Richey.

I'm sure this is a nice book filled with nice poetry. My (own) Son is an enlisted man who has had to serve on the "front-lines" of battle. My "outlet" was to write him and give HIM my support - before, during and after his 1st tour of duty in Iraq. He'll be going back again - and once again, as an "enlisted man" will serve our nation on the FRONT lines. I will (once again) be writing too - but to HIM - to give HIM my support, thoughts, and encouragement from the other side of the Earth in his hometown of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
